MAPS club at HSU (interested?)

Hey Folks,

I am in the process of starting a club at HSU based around the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies or MAPS. www.maps.org It is to some degree a complement to the NORML club that already exists at HSU, in the sense of bringing together a community of people interested in seeing psychedelics recognized as a legitimate tool. MAPS has been promoting and funding legitimate psychedelic research since 1986 and currently has several projects funded including psilocybin, marijuana, I believe LSD, as well as a scheduled MDMA project at Harvard. They are one of the only (and probably the major) organizations pushing for the legitimate study of these compounds. I have been in touch with MAPS and are very eager to cooperate with me in coordinating the club on campus. RIck Doblin, the founder of MAPS, has informed me that this would be the first such MAPS club on a college campus. They have sent me a nice big box of pamphlets and journals and calendars for the club and I am very excited about the opportunity to form this community. So, I am curious if anybody here (especially students, but it would be an open club to members of the local community as well) would be interested in attending the club meetings, events, etc. or helping in any way (as far as being an officer or any other help you may be willing to provide). I am mostly trying to get a feeling for how much interest in this type of community there would be. So, feel free to contact me on the list or privately to let me know what you think and whether you'd like to be a part, either passively or actively, both of which are more than fine. BTW - if you are interested please let me know if you are a student, as I need a few more ID numbers to start the club. Anyways, hope to hear from you.

Cheers, Kevin
